VIRTÙ, FORTUNA E ESTADO EM NICOLAU MAQUIAVEL: FUNDAMENTOS DO REALISMO EM RELAÇÕES INTERNACIONAIS

Resumo

O presente trabalho objetivou, através de revisão narrativa bibliográfica, identificar de que modo os conceitos de Virtù, Fortuna e Estado, em Nicolau Maquiavel, influenciaram a formação e estabelecimento do Realismo Político enquanto teoria das Relações Internacionais. À vista disso, concluiu-se que a teoria maquiaveliana fundamentou o pensamento realista especificamente na interpretação de poder, anarquia, competição e sobrevivência. A visão maquiaveliana que se contrapôs aos ideais românticos e à análise subjetiva do sistema internacional foi reinterpretada por realistas para aplicação em contexto internacional, apontando a aquisição e a manutenção do poder como os principais objetivos das soberanias para a subsistência em um cenário permanentemente anárquico.

VIRTÙ, FORTUNE AND STATE IN NICCOLÓ MACHIAVELLI: FOUNDATIONS OF REALISM IN INTERNATIONAL STUDIES

It aimed, through a bibliographical narrative review, to identify how the concepts of Virtù, Fortune and State, in Niccolò Machiavelli, influenced the formation and establishment of Political Realism as an International Studies theory. In view of this, it concluded that Machiavellian theory based the realistic thinking specifically on the interpretation of power, anarchy, competition and survival. The Machiavellian view that opposed the romantic ideals and the subjective analysis of the international system was reinterpreted by the Political Realism for application in an international context, pointing to the acquisition and maintenance of power as the main objectives of sovereignties for subsistence in a permanently anarchic scenario.
